Project Background

A local thermal power plant in Indonesia operates multiple steam turbine units. During long-term operation, shaft seal steam leakage caused water ingress into the turbine lubricating oil system, resulting in oil emulsification, turbid oil color, and decreased demulsification performance. The plant needed professional purification equipment for online and offline turbine oil maintenance to ensure unit safe operation and extend oil service life.

Client Challenges

  • Shaft seal steam leakage caused stable oil-water emulsification, turbid oil color, and deteriorated demulsification performance.
  • Oil moisture and gas content exceeded allowable limits, threatening turbine bearing and servo system safety.
  • Ordinary single-stage vacuum equipment could not completely remove emulsified water, resulting in poor treatment effect.
  • Frequent oil replacement increased power plant operating costs and waste oil disposal burden.

Custom Solution

We recommended the TY Turbine Oil Purifier from our standard series. Equipped with a special demulsification device, vacuum dehydration technology, and multi-stage precision filtration system, the equipment effectively removes water, gases, and impurities from turbine oil. It features:

  • Special demulsification device to break down stable oil-water emulsions caused by steam leakage
  • Multi-stage precision filtration system for solid particle removal
  • Air-cooled system
  • Interlocked safety protection
  • Supports online bypass purification (non-stop operation) and offline batch treatment

Project Implementation

We customized the power supply and interface parameters to suit the Indonesian power plant site conditions. Core components were factory-tested before assembly. After production, the equipment completed performance testing. It was packed in export-standard plywood wooden case and delivered by sea. Our technical team provided remote commissioning guidance and daily operation training for the plant maintenance staff.

Project Results (Quantified)

  • Oil moisture content reduced to ≤100 ppm
  • Gas content reduced to ≤0.2%
  • Oil cleanliness reached NAS 1638 Class 6
  • Emulsified oil clarity fully restored, oil demulsification performance recovered
  • Turbine system failures caused by oil contamination significantly reduced, unit operation stability improved

Project FAQ

Q1: How do you treat turbine oil that is heavily emulsified due to shaft seal steam leakage?

A: Our special demulsification device first breaks down stable oil-water emulsions, then removes dissolved moisture through vacuum technology, delivering better treatment effect than single vacuum-only equipment.

Q2: Will purification change turbine oil chemical properties?

A: No. Our turbine oil purifier uses physical purification methods and does not change oil composition or performance.

Q3: Can turbine oil purifier remove acid and oxidation products from oil?

A: Standard turbine oil purifiers mainly remove water, gas and solid impurities. For heavily oxidized oil with high acid value, please contact us for targeted solutions.

Q4: Can it solve the problem of oil turbidity caused by steam water ingress?

A: Yes. After treatment by the special demulsification device and vacuum dehydration, the oil returns to a clear state and the demulsification performance is restored.
